Queen Maxima of the Netherlands has celebrated her 49 th birthday in style, posting a picture of her in a golden gown and glam make up looking, clutching a plate of her favourite baked goods.
Sharing the recipe on Instagram, the royal explains, "At this time I celebrate my birthday at home with a typical Argentine delicacy: Alfajores from dulce de leche."
"I grew up with Alfajores, they are my favourite cookies!" she adds.
Maxima then details the secret recipe, passed down to her by her mother, and encourages her followers to "bake them yourself at home".
While the caramel-slathered coconut-covered biscuits left mouths watering, safe to say it was the Queen's fabulous frock that really had jaws dropping.
"She can really do everything!" gushed one commenter.
"Cooking queen," another dubbed.
One fan took the chance to share some national pride: "This is only possible in the Netherlands: the queen who shares a baking recipe! Happy birthday!"
Maxima shared a series of images detailing her approach to the Argentine speciality.
One slide showed her grating the zest of a lemon to add a fresh kick to the baked delight, while another showed her hand-kneading the dough – still wearing the orange diamond engagement ring she received from King Willem Alexander.
The Queen also added a teaspoon of cognac to celebrate her day.
Filling the biscuits with velvet layers of dulce de leche, Maxima finished off her favourite treat with a coat of grated coconut.
"The Alfajores de dulce de leche are ready: enjoy!" she wrote.
